NetApp recommends latency as the primary performance monitor of their filers, and up until now datacenter managers had very limited options to get this data. Now with no configuration required other than entering the hostname of the filer to be monitored, users can see not only global CPU, IO and disk statistics, but also detailed volume statistics. This is essential to isolating or eliminating the storage system as a source of performance problems for applications that depend on it.
