Even more important, a CMDB defines the relationships and interdependencies between those assets. This makes it easy to understand, manage and report on the service being delivered.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, a CMDB is only valuable if you&rsquo;re working with reliable data. With thousands of devices being added across distributed systems, it&rsquo;s easy for a business impacting issue to slip through the cracks.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The LogicMonitor &ndash; <a href=\"https:\/\/logicmonitor.com\/servicenow-cmdb\">ServiceNow CMDB integration<\/a> eliminates the typical time-consuming data sifting across systems so you can understand how the entire ecosystem is working, from infrastructure to applications, and be immediately notified when changes occur. <\/span><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&rsquo;s important to note that with this new integration, by default, nothing will synchronize out of the box. Don&rsquo;t fret &ndash; we have good reason. Synchronizing data bi-directionally out of the box could be detrimental to your LogicMonitor resource, or CMDB data, which is why we have designed the application with deliberate safeguards. The code to synchronize devices and more is there; it just needs to be enabled, scheduled, triggered or in general told when to run. The following sections will cover how to set up the application. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-initial-setup\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initial Setup<\/span><\/h2><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pre-requisites\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pre-Requisites<\/span><\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before starting, make sure you have access to the following:<\/span><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ServiceNow account with the &ldquo;admin&rdquo; role.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LogicMonitor account with rights to create User accounts and view all devices.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-create-api-only-user\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create API Only User<\/span><\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/logicmonitor.com\/support\/settings\/users-and-roles\/users\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Steps to create a dedicated API Only LogicMonitor user:&nbsp;<\/span><\/a><\/p><ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Login to your LogicMonitor Portal with Admin level role.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Settings &gt; Users &amp; Roles &gt; Add<\/span><\/i><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click button for &ldquo;API Only&rdquo;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give account a user name of &ldquo;cmdb_sync&rdquo;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assign Role with appropriate rights based on use case. (Administrator is recommended)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For full functionality the account will need the ability to:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">View collectors<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">View\/Add Devices<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">View\/Add Groups<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional rights may be needed based on your unique use cases.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the PLUS button to add a new API Token. &nbsp;Retain the AccessID and AccessKey values for use in the ServiceNow CMDB application configuration (next section).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click Save in the API Only section to save that key.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click Save at the bottom of the window to save the API Only Account.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.logicmonitor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/apiOnlyUser.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.logicmonitor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/apiOnlyUser-300x228.png\" alt=\"Add a user image in LogicMonitor\" class=\"wp-image-436330\"><\/a><\/figure><\/div><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-install-configure-servicenow-cmdb-application\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Install\/Configure ServiceNow CMDB Application<\/span><\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This section provides steps to configure the CMDB application to connect to your LogicMonitor portal and test the connection.<\/span><\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-install-the-application-to-your-servicenow-instance\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Install the application to your ServiceNow instance.<\/span><\/h4><ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Login to ServiceNow with admin level privileges.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp;Navigate to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">System Applications &gt; Applications <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the ServiceNow menu.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp;The LogicMonitor CMDB Integration should appear in your Not Installed list. &nbsp;(If you don&rsquo;t see the application please reach out to your LogicMonitor CSM or Account Exec.)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp;Click &ldquo;Install&rdquo; once. <\/span><\/li><\/ol><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NOTE. &nbsp;This will take a VERY long time. &nbsp;Possibly as long as 30 minutes. DO NOT click the install button more than once! <\/span><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to check if the application is still installing, you can do the following:<\/span><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Navigate to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">System Diagnostics &gt; Progress Workers<\/span><\/i><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be an entry for the application in a &ldquo;Running&rdquo; state.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it says &ldquo;Completed&rdquo; the application installation is complete.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-after-the-installation-has-completed\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the installation has completed:<\/span><\/h4><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Navigate to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LogicMonitor CMDB<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &gt; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setup<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &gt; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Properties<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(If you see a message about application scope click the &ldquo;here&rdquo; link to switch the Application Scope)<\/span><\/i><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Set values for:<\/span><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LogicMonitor Account Name<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">API Access ID*<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">API Access Key* <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*from step 6 in Create API Only User<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Click Save<\/span><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. Navigate to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LogicMonitor CMDB &gt; Application Components &gt; Scheduled Jobs<\/span><\/i><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5. Click on the job titled &ldquo;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LM &ndash; Collector Import<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&rdquo;<\/span><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6. Click the button &ldquo;Execute Now&rdquo;. &nbsp;This will attempt to connect to the configured LogicMonitor portal and import all the Collectors into the newly established LogicMonitor Collectors CI Class.<\/span><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7.
