Alert Tuning at the Group Level

Alert thresholds configured for datapoints in a datasource definition will apply to all instances of that datasource throughout your account.  This is a good starting point, but there are situations where you may need to configure a different threshold for just one instance or a subset of instances.  You can use the Alert Tuning Tab for a specific device group to configure thresholds that will override the global thresholds.

Note that you can further configure thresholds using the Alert Tuning tab for a particular datasource or instance - thresholds set at these levels will override both the group and global thresholds.

The Alert Tuning Tab for groups displays all datasources available among member devices.

The enable column determines if data is collected for the datasource.  If not checked, the datasource will appear in the disabled datasources group for each device.

Datasource Name

The name of the datasource.  Clicking the datasource name will open a new window with the datasource definition.

Datasource details

Expanding a row will display all datapoints for the datasource.  Alerting for each datapoint can be toggled on or off.  Alert thresholds for each datapoint can also be adjusted by clicking the manage gear icon - any group thresholds added will apply to all instances of the datasource across the group and will override the global threshold.  If a group threshold has already been configured, it will be displayed in the threshold column:

In the above screenshot, the BusyWorkers datapoint for the Apache Datasource has a group threshold that triggers a warning alert if the BusyWorkers value exceeds 200.  This group threshold overrides the global threshold set in the datasource definition (>250).
