Alert Tuning at the Group Level

Alert thresholds configured for datapoints in a DataSource definition will apply to all instances of that DataSource throughout your account. This is a good starting point, but you may encounter situations where you need to configure a different threshold for a subset of instances. If these instances are organized into a device group, you can use the device group's Alert Tuning tab to configure thresholds that will override the global thresholds.

Note: If necessary, you can further configure thresholds on a more granular basis using the Alert Tuning tab for a particular DataSource or instance. Thresholds set at these deeper levels will override both the group and global thresholds. For more information, see Alert Tuning for Instances.

The Alert Tuning tab for groups displays all DataSources available among member devices, as shown next.

In the following sections, we'll discuss this tab's available functionality.

The Enable column determines if data is collected for the DataSource. If the column isn't checked for a particular DataSource, the DataSource will appear in the disabled DataSources group for each device. (For more information on disabling data collection, see Disabling Monitoring for a Datasource or Instance.)

DataSource Name

The name of the DataSource. Clicking the DataSource name will open the DataSource definition in a new window

DataSource Details

Expanding a DataSource row will display all datapoints for the DataSource. In the following screenshot, there is just one datapoint available for the expanded "SSL Certificate Expiration" DataSource.

Alerting for each datapoint can be toggled on or off using the checkbox in the Alert column. Alert thresholds for each datapoint are adjusted by clicking the pencil icon in the Effective Threshold column. This opens the Alert Threshold Wizard, as shown next. Any thresholds added here will apply to all instances of the DataSource across the group and will override the global threshold. (For more information on using the Alert Threshold Wizard, see Using the Alert Threshold Wizard.)
