How to forecast data
You can forecast data from dashboard widgets or from datasource instance level graphs on the devices page. On either the devices page or the dashboard page, locate a graph that you want to see forecasted data for. Select the arrow in the top right corner of the graph and choose ‘Forecast’:
Note: If the graph you are forecasting has more than one graph line you will need to select which datapoint line you want to forecast data for. The lines will be displayed in the lower left hand corner of the forecasting window.
Choose training data time range:
Choose a time range for the collected data that the forecasted data will be based on. You can specify a custom time range using From & To dates or you can use the time range options of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. Data with timestamps during the specified time range will be used to calculate the forecasted data.
Choose forecasted data time range:
Choose a time range to forecast data for. You can choose to forecast data for the next 7 days, the next 14 days, the next 1 month, or the next 3 months. Forecasted data will be calculated and displayed with 95% upper and lower confidence bounds. You can hover over the forecasted data to see the values of the data and the values of the confidence bounds.
Forecasting can also be embedded in a table widget to predict the duration of time until a datapoint will surpass its designated alert threshold. Click here to learn more about Alert Forecasting.
