Building on strong strategic alliances with manufacturer partners, Computer Solutions delivers a variety of sophisticated, high-performance IT solutions for customers across a wide range of industries. “We serve customers in a variety of different verticals, including government, private businesses, construction, automotive, food services, and banking,” says James Deaton, Senior Network Engineer at Computer Solutions.
A Cisco network infrastructure is the foundation for its managed service offerings, and Computer Solutions requires real-time insight into every element to ensure that its customers enjoy the best possible performance and availability. However, its existing monitoring was difficult to scale, and could not ensure the resiliency that Computer Solutions required, making the firm vulnerable to major outages. As its legacy monitoring solution approached end of contract, Computer Solutions began looking for a better solution.

After evaluating options from several different vendors, Computer Solutions chose a comprehensive infrastructure monitoring platform from LogicMonitor.
“We chose LogicMonitor because of the solution’s resiliency as well as its ability to scale the way we needed it to,” says Deaton. “LogicMonitor also offered in-app chat capabilities and better support resources than our existing solution.”
LogicMonitor lets Computer Solutions automatically collect performance from its entire infrastructure, including its Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and Unified Communications solution. It provides granular performance monitoring and actionable insights, integrating smoothly with the provider’s ConnectWise service management tools for alerts and ticketing. LogicMonitor is also a flexible solution that scales rapidly to accommodate additional devices.
“We started our implementation monitoring 600 devices in 2016, and since then we have extended the solution to cover more than 1300 devices and 72 websites,” says Deaton.
With LogicMonitor, the Computer Solutions IT team can monitor not only on-premises devices but also its VMware and storage solutions, all from a single pane of glass—a capability that its previous system could not support.
With its LogicMonitor solution in place, Computer Solutions can meet its objective of bringing all its infrastructure monitoring under one umbrella. With better visibility across its organization, the firm has been able to increase the size of its target customer base from an average of 100 employees to up to 600.
“LogicMonitor provides superior monitoring and improved insight into our network health for better performance and reliability, which has enabled us to target customers three to six times larger than before,” said Deaton.
Deaton and his team are also pleased that LogicMonitor is easy for its team to deploy and use productively. “Our previous solution had a poor backend experience with complicated invoicing and inadequate support resources,” he said.
Computer Solutions has successfully transferred monitoring of all its on-premises infrastructure devices to LogicMonitor. The provider is now working to apply the solution to new initiatives such as AIOps, to enhance IT operations with big data and machine learning. The LogicMonitor monitoring platform delivers the key attributes needed to take advantage of the many benefits of AIOps today and in the future.
