Celebrating Pride Month at LogicMonitor

Celebrating Pride Month at LogicMonitor

Pride Month is a time for celebration — we celebrate our vibrant community, our right to live out loud and unafraid, and honor those who have come before us. Pride is also a great time for reflection — looking back at the fight for equality in generations past, both here in the US and globally. Here at LogicMonitor, we strongly believe in supporting the LGBTQ+ community and our company culture values that all of our employees bring their full authentic selves to work. To celebrate 2021 Pride Month we are holding several events to foster discussion, reflection, and have fun!

We kicked off Pride Month with a Fireside Chat with Erik Day, SVP of Small Business at Dell Technologies. Erik is a leader and LGBTQ+ role model in the tech space and it was great to hear about the work he does with Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, his efforts to fight back against discriminatory laws in Texas, and the diversity, equity, and inclusion journey at Dell throughout his 20+ year career there. Erik shared with us his favorite ways to honor Pride Month include attending festivals and remembering the history of our community. He strongly recommends FX’s Pride Docuseries (available on Hulu) and Pose!

Next up, Dr. Rachel Donnelly provided a highly engaging session on LGBT Health and Disparities in Healthcare and Institutions. She highlighted the way these disparities can impact health outcomes and gave recommendations on how individuals can reverse the trend in their own lives and in the lives of others, with workplace equality and security being foundational to mental health.

Our Media Club group watched The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson (currently available to stream on Netflix). Marsha P. Johnson was an activist, self-identified drag queen, performer, survivor, as well as a prominent figure in the Stonewall uprising of 1969.

To close out Pride Month with a bang, our official Pride celebration features virtual Drag Queen Bingo with Drag Survivor winner Althea Trix! We’ve mailed out flags, stickers, and hats to our employees so they can accessorize accordingly. And we’ll also be waving our flags proudly while marching in the Austin, Texas Pride Parade in August!

This Pride month has been a busy one, and it has been a true team effort to arrange all of these enriching events. Thank you so much to everyone that participated and helped organize! I hope the reader finds some of the resources and entertainment shared in this post interesting, and that LogicMonitor employees have enjoyed these events and conversations. We look forward to keeping the momentum going and ensuring LogicMonitor is a great place to work for all.
