v.179 Release Notes

Last updated on 27 March, 2024

Highlights

  • Feature Highlights: Deviceless logs support for LM Logs. Expanded support for monitoring Microsoft Azure Connect Sync and Azure AD Users.
  • General Updates: Improvements to Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS monitoring. A new timeslice Logs aggregation function. New Argus configurations for Storage Class and Priority Class resources.
  • Updated Monitoring: New modules to monitor Kubernetes configurations, Microsoft O365 Teams QoS, Selenium Grids and Nodes, AWS Direct Connect topology mapping, and more.

Feature Highlights

Deviceless Logs Support for LM Logs

You can now search and view logs in LM Logs even if the log is not associated with an LM-monitored resource. Previously, if a log could not be mapped to an LM-monitored resource, that log would be dropped. You can filter for deviceless logs using the following metadata query: _resource.id=0

Expanded Monitoring for Microsoft Azure

LogicMonitor cloud monitoring for Azure now includes support for monitoring Azure Connect Sync and Azure Active Directory (AD) Users.

  • Azure Connect Sync shows you when Azure AD is enabled and the time since the last sync.
  • Azure AD Users shows you the total number of users, the number of active users, and the number of inactive users.

General Updates

Cloud Monitoring

Enhancements

  • Azure datasources will now show correct data for Network Interface and Load Balance metrics and will properly handle Azure metric definition responses in case an Azure resource is in an invalid state.
  • The visualizations between AWS Direct Connect and the topology tab now displays similar to existing AWS resources.

Fixed Issues

  • Some Azure alerts and events had HTML markup in the message, this has been fixed.

Container Monitoring

Enhancements

  • You can now configure Argus to monitor Storage Class and Priority Class resources in your Kubernetes cluster.

Logs

Enhancements

  • You can now customize the default time range and timestamp format for the Logs page by selecting the More Options > Profile > Appearance. These Appearance settings are unique to individual users.
  • You can now group Logs query results by fixed time intervals, such as minutes and hours, using a new timeslice aggregation function.

REST API

Fixed Issues

  • The alerts API endpoint (GET: /alert/alerts api) will return  recently cleared alerts when filters such as cleared and endEpoch are used.

Topology

Enhancements

  • Starting from a Dynamic Map, you can now save your changes as a Saved Map.
  • When exploring map from maps tab to Saved Maps page, you will be informed if there are additional topology nodes on the map canvas.

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue where alert thresholds were not properly respected for cloud resources.

Oracle_Database_RMANBackupSetsAge
LogicMonitor has rewritten the Oracle modules to be consistent with the other database modules in LogicMonitor. The new modules will now require a JDBC connection string and port is no longer required but can still be used. The exposure of the connection string as a property on a device now allows LogicMonitor to monitor any Oracle database as long as there is a connection string, a username, and password. This can be an Oracle cloud database, an Azure Oracle DB, or an AWS RDS instance.

Oracle_Database_MonitorUser: New monitoring coverage to report the number of connections used by the Oracle Monitoring User and alert if that number exceeds 25 which may indicate code errors in monitoring scripts causing connections to leak.

For related module updates, see Updated LogicModules and Deprecated LogicModules.
(2 DataSources)
Selenium_Grid_Info
Selenium_Grid_Nodes
New monitoring for Selenium Grids and Nodes on the Selenium Grid on a given address.
(2 PropertySources)
Config_Cisco
Config_Cisco_Generic
New modules to provide a common configuration for Cisco devices.

These modules require a property of config.beta to be set to 1 or true on the host to function.

If you have pre-release beta versions of this module, those devices will continue to apply upon importing this new official release version even without the config.beta property.

Note: WLC devices have proven very unstable under normal usage, so the instances created for these devices are heavily reduced.
(1 TopologySource)
AWS_DirectConnect_Topology
New topology mapping for AWS Direct Connect.

Added the ability to check for Linux Oracle without ports and check for AWS RDS instances with a standard collector.

For related module updates, see New LogicModules and Deprecated LogicModules.

Updated display name to be consistent with other modules in the package, for example “Zoom Sub Account Utilization”.
(1 DataSource)
SNMP_Network_Interfaces
Updated reserved addresses based off of lm.data.topo snippet and blocked bad CDP and LLDP ERIs. Fixed a bug in Active Discovery that evaluated CDP rather than LLDP. Updated Timeouts to make best use of the available execution time. Timeouts added to AD in an attempt to exit the script within execution limits and exit early when SNMP issues are identified. Fixed a bug in alert filter properties for instance descriptions, adjusted filter handling with more robust and simplified approach, and added alertFilterDebug mode to give users the ability to get additional information about alert filters alone.
(1 DataSource)
SSL_Certificates
Expanded active discovery to allow for LDAP and LDAPS ports to be discovered and accurately labeled.
(2 DataSources)
Win2k12_HyperV_HypervisorMemory
Win2k12_HyperV_HypervisorStats

(1 TopologySource)
Networking_L2_snmpSwitch
Added multiple bridge MAC threshold to prevent bridge leakage. Added equipment OUIs and bridge MACs threshold. Added default community string of “public” when none is provided.
