Silver Peak Orchestrator Monitoring (Legacy)

Last updated on 04 January, 2024

LogicMonitor’s Silver Peak Orchestrator monitoring uses the Orchestrator REST API to monitor Silver Peak SD-WAN deployments, as well as individual Silver Peak appliances.

For Silver Peak device monitoring, see Silver Peak Monitoring.

Compatibility

LogicMonitor’s Silver Peak Orchestrator package is compatible with Orchestrator REST API version 8.3.

Setup Requirements

Add resources into monitoring

Add your Silver Peak Orchestrator and appliance hosts into monitoring. For more information on adding resources into monitoring, see Adding Devices.

Provide credentials

LogicMonitor must have the appropriate credentials to query the Orchestrator REST API for Orchestrator and appliance device data. These credentials must belong to a user account with a read-only role.

Assign properties to resources

The following properties must be set on the Silver Peak Orchestrator and appliance resources within LogicMonitor.

Property Description Required
silverpeak.orchestrator.user
silverpeak.orchestrator.pass
Silver Peak Orchestrator REST API username and password. This account must have the read-only role. Required for monitoring the Silver Peak Orchestrator device and Silver Peak appliances.
silverpeak.orchestrator.host system.hostname of the Silver Peak Orchestrator device. Required for monitoring Silver Peak appliances managed by the Silver Peak Orchestrator.
silverpeak.orchestrator.logintype An integer value for the Silver Peak Orchestrator login type:
  0   Local (default)
  1   RADIUS
  2   TACACS+
  3   OAuth
  4   JWT
  5   SAML
Required if using an alternative login type.

Migration

The previous Silver Peak package monitored individual Silver Peak appliance devices using the VXOA REST API and the silverpeak.user and silverpeak.pass credentials. When migrating to the latest LogicModules, the silverpeak.orchestrator.user, silverpeak.orchestrator.pass, and silverpeak.orchestrator.host credentials must be applied to the Silver Peak appliances devices that support the Silver Peak Orchestrator REST API.

Troubleshooting

  • If the Silver Peak appliance device monitoring is missing, run addCategory_SilverPeak_Appliance against the Silver Peak appliance device to set the auto.silverpeak.applianceid property and enable device monitoring.

LogicModules in Package

LogicMonitor’s package for Silver Peak Orchestrator monitoring consists of the following LogicModules. For full coverage, import all of these LogicModules into your LogicMonitor platform.

Display Name Type Description
addCategory_SilverPeak_Orchestrator PropertySource Adds “SilverPeakOrchestrator” as a value to the system.categories property for resources identified as Silver Peak Orchestrator devices.

Adds “auto.silverpeak.orchestrator.statsinterval” to designate in seconds how far back to retrieve statistics data from the Orchestrator REST API.
addCategory_SilverPeak_Appliance PropertySource Adds “SilverPeakAppliance” as a value to the system.categories property for resources identified as Silver Peak appliance devices.

Adds “auto.silverpeak.orchestrator.statsinterval” to designate in seconds how far back to retrieve statistics data from the Orchestrator REST API.

Adds “auto.silverpeak.appliance” and “auto.silverpeak.applianceid”, which are used to make device specific calls to the Orchestrator REST API.
addERI_SilverPeak_Orchestrator ERISource Add Silver Peak Orchestrator device ERI for SD-WAN topology mapping.
addERI_SilverPeak_Appliance ERISource Add Silver Peak appliance ERI for SD-WAN topology mapping.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Topology TopologySource Map Silver Peak Orchestrator tunnel SD-WAN topologies.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Info DataSource Monitors general Silver Peak information.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_DiskUsage DataSource Monitors aggregate Silver Peak Orchestrator used and free disk space.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Appliances DataSource Monitors Silver Peak appliances at the Orchestrator level.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Disks DataSource Monitors Silver Peak appliance disks at the Orchestrator level.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Tunnels DataSource Monitors SD-WAN tunnels between Silver Peak appliances.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Appliance DataSource Monitors Silver Peak appliances at the device level.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Appliance_Disks DataSource Monitors Silver Peak appliance disks at the device level.
SilverPeak_Orchestrator_Appliance_Tunnels DataSource Monitors SD-WAN tunnels between Silver Peak appliances at the device level.

When setting static datapoint thresholds on the various metrics tracked by this package, LogicMonitor follows the technology owner’s best practice KPI recommendations. If necessary, we encourage you to adjust these predefined thresholds to meet the unique needs of your environment.
