Feature Highlights

New Log Alert Types

You can now leverage the new log alert types to generate alerts based on number of times an alert condition is met. You can suppress alerts for a period of time and only receive one alert regardless of the number of times the alert condition is met. In addition, you can set an alert threshold to define when to trigger an alert, such as generating an alert if a condition is met ten times within the hour. The number of occurrences (matching logs) and time window is configurable in the Pipeline Alerts settings.

Delta Support for API

To find out the delta (latest changes) of the devices, you can now use two new endpoints added to /device/devices v3 API.

  • GET /santaba/rest/device/devices/delta – Registers delta request and generates a new delta Id. It also returns all devices that match the filter criteria.
  • GET /santaba/rest/device/devices/delta/<DELTAID> – Returns devices that have any delta between the last and the current API call.

For more information, see Delta Support for device/devices API in the Product Documentation.

The Delta feature will be rolled out to customers in batches. For any questions, contact your LogicMonitor Customer Support Manager.

General Updates

Collector Settings

LM Container’s collector component is now installed with non-root privileges by default. This change impacts new installations only.

Recommendation: Manually disable root access on the collector when upgrading to the latest version.

Identity and Access

Multi Sign-on

The Multi Sign-On feature is now generally available on all LogicMonitor accounts.

In addition, the Restricted Single Sign-On feature is available with administrative rights. For more information, see Restricted Single Sign-On in the Product Documentation.

Note: This feature will be available for all portals in a future release.

Additional Enhancements

  • The Enable Remote Session setting in Portal Settings is now disabled by default for new accounts.
  • Improved Audit Log message formatting to increase readability and comprehension.

Auditing Functionality for Import from Repository Removal

The ability to audit a module when importing it from the repository (the “Legacy Import/Update Process”) has been removed. You can accomplish this same functionality using the Skip feature in My Module Toolbox.

For more information, see Modules Management in the Product Documentation.

Visual Enhancements for Module Status

My Module Toolbox now displays whether a module is “In Use” or “Not in Use”. Selecting a module displays the status of the module in the details panel.

This allows you to determine if the module has created any monitored instances in your LogicMonitor portal. In addition, you can use this information to help determine which modules you need to update.

To access this feature, navigate to Modules > My Module Toolbox. The status displays in the “Use Status” column in the list of modules.

For more information, see Modules Overview in the Product Documentation.

Import from File Workflow in My Module Toolbox with the New UI

Disclaimer: If you are not leveraging the new UI, you can import a module to your portal using the legacy workflow. For more information, see Importing / Exporting XML LogicModules in the Product Documentation.

You can now import a module directly to your LogicModule portal from My Module Toolbox. This is useful if you edited a module offline and want to add it to your portal.

When you import the file, LogicMonitor detects duplicate modules that are currently installed as well as potential conflicts based on the XML or JSON file you import. If conflicts are found, you can view a side-by-side data comparison to resolve the conflicts or overwrite the currently installed module.

To access this feature, navigate to Modules > My Module Toolbox > Select Add > Select Import from File.

For more information, see Modules Management in the Product Documentation.

Additional Enhancements

You are now redirected to My Module Toolbox for module definitions in all locations that pointed to LogicModules. This provides you with direct access to the new UI for Modules.

Note: This enhancement does not impact any functionality when navigating within the LogicModules settings. You can navigate to LogicModules if necessary.

Fixed Issues

When importing a module, My Module Toolbox now displays a warning before overwriting the existing module.

The VMware vSphere NetScan script has been updated to include a new filter property and updated names on existing filters to be more intuitive. Backward compatibility exists for the filter properties that were updated.

The following new filter property was added:

Filter PropertyDescription
discover.vmWhen set to true, LogicMonitor discovers VMs.

The following property names were updated:

Property NameUpdated Property Name

For more information, see VMware vSphere Monitoring in the Product Documentation.

  • The full path is now displayed for Subgroups in this Group settings on the Info tab for a Resource.
  • There is no longer a missing indicator for whether a collector is auto-balanced when adding a new resource.
  • You can now manually add new devices to a static group with new Devices & Collector settings in the new UI. You can add devices and update the collector for the device if needed.

Usage Reporting

Usage Reporting Performance Enhancement

Improved the performance of filtering when child account contributors are displayed. This enhancement promptly updates the visual components when child accounts are selected and deselected in the Usage Contributors table.

To view the performance enhancement, navigate to Settings > Usage.

For more information about leveraging Usage in your environment, see Usage Reporting Overview in the Product Documentation.

Collector Releases

EA Collector 34.500 was released on November 01, 2023. For more information, see the EA Collector 34.500 Release Notes.

LogicModule Releases

New and updated LogicModules are available for you to import from the LogicMonitor Public Repository. Updated LogicModules

LogicModule NameDetails
5 DataSources:
Added support for SNMPv3 properties.
1 DataSource:
Changed active discovery to replace all disallowed characters and “=” with an underscore in wildvalue.
For more information, see BatchScript Data Collection in the Product Documentation.
2 DataSources:
Fixed an error in active discovery where groups from other resources were being included in aggregations. Only instances that are marked as being in “OurGroup” in the API output will now be included. This update may cause data loss if instances not marked as “OurGroup” were previously collecting valid data.

Note: Prior to importing these changes, add a resource that is in the group you would like to monitor to LogicMonitor to monitor its group and the servers in its group.

1 DataSource:
Updated calculation in hit ratio complex datapoints to prevent a divide by 0 operation. General updates to graphs and alert messages.
1 DataSources:
Handled case where there is data for a single band but not on wifi0
2 PropertySources:

4 ConfigSources:
Resolved an issue where some characters used in standard lines within the config.custom.response property of common configs were filtered (> and =).
1 DataSource:
Explicitly added distributed port groups to networks monitored.
1 DataSource:
Added clarification for which BigIP SSL connections we support monitoring.

Note: IPv4 and IPv4v are currently supported.

By default, LogicMonitor only generates instances for Zone 01, but more can be added usig a comma separated list (for example, ‘01,02’) in the bigip.zones host property.
1 DataSource:
Updated AWS SES Monitoring metric paths.
4 DataSources:
Updated appliesTo statements to exclude lm-container charts.

Note: This change may have historical data implications for any devices previously included that collected data.

1 DataSource:
Added handling to prevent divide by zero error.
1 DataSource:
Changed status alert to only alert for offline. This will no longer alert on read-only instances.
1 DataSource:
Added null checks to conditions evaluating contents of instance description and instance_name.
1 TopologySource:
Fixed query endpoint.
1 DataSource:

2 PropertySources:

1 TopologySource:
Expanded Meraki monitoring coverage to include cellular gateways.
1 DataSource:
Removed signalScore datapoint as the calculation was incorrect.
Added alerts for low power and quality levels.
1 DataSource:
The authentication method for loading snippet modules has been updated. Without this update, monitoring loss will occur across all modules using snippets.
1 DataSource:
Tag interfaces w LLDP/CDP ERI even if duplicate MACs.
1 DataSource:
New property meraki.disableswitches disables per-switch Meraki Dashboard API calls for switch interfaces for environments already using SNMP_Network_Interfaces or to mitigate API rate limiting.
To mitigate historical data loss, this option does not unapply the Cisco_Meraki_SwitchInterfaces DataSource. If setting this property to true, disable Cisco_Meraki_SwitchInterfaces using the parent resource group (preserves historical data) or alter the AppliesTo (does not preserve historical data).

Note: This setting must be applied to all switches in a Cisco Meraki Organization.

1 DataSource:
Added topo.whitelist support to SNMP_Network_Interfaces.
1 TopologySource:
Added topo.blockedmultipliers support to Networking_L2_snmpSwitch.
2 DataSources:
AWS_EC2_EBS and AWS_EC2_EBSBurstBalance DataSources will be applied to all EBS optimized EC2 instances instead of M5 and C5 type instances.
4 DataSources:
Fixed an issue in Active Discovery.
