Last updated on 27 March, 2024

Updated on November 23, 2023

Feature Highlights

  • The Delta support for v3 API feature will be rolled out to customers in batches.

Highlights

  • Feature Highlights: New log alert types. Delta support for API.
  • General Highlights: General availability of Multi Sign-On. New use status for modules and ability to import from file in My Module Toolbox for the new UI.
  • Monitoring Updates: New Meraki monitoring coverage for health and performance of cellular gateways. Added support for SNMPv3 properties.

Feature Highlights

New Log Alert Types

You can now leverage the new log alert types to generate alerts based on number of times an alert condition is met. You can suppress alerts for a period of time and only receive one alert regardless of the number of times the alert condition is met. In addition, you can set an alert threshold to define when to trigger an alert, such as generating an alert if a condition is met ten times within the hour. The number of occurrences (matching logs) and time window is configurable in the Pipeline Alerts settings.

Delta Support for API

To find out the delta (latest changes) of the devices, you can now use two new endpoints added to /device/devices v3 API.

  • GET /santaba/rest/device/devices/delta – Registers delta request and generates a new delta Id. It also returns all devices that match the filter criteria.
  • GET /santaba/rest/device/devices/delta/<DELTAID> – Returns devices that have any delta between the last and the current API call.

For more information, see Delta Support for device/devices API in the Product Documentation.

The Delta feature will be rolled out to customers in batches. For any questions, contact your LogicMonitor Customer Support Manager.

General Updates

Collector Settings

Enhancements

LM Container’s collector component is now installed with non-root privileges by default. This change impacts new installations only.

Recommendation: Manually disable root access on the collector when upgrading to the latest version.

Identity and Access

Multi Sign-on

The Multi Sign-On feature is now generally available on all LogicMonitor accounts.

In addition, the Restricted Single Sign-On feature is available with administrative rights. For more information, see Restricted Single Sign-On in the Product Documentation.

Note: This feature will be available for all portals in a future release.

Additional Enhancements

  • The Enable Remote Session setting in Portal Settings is now disabled by default for new accounts.
  • Improved Audit Log message formatting to increase readability and comprehension.

Modules

Auditing Functionality for Import from Repository Removal

The ability to audit a module when importing it from the repository (the “Legacy Import/Update Process”) has been removed. You can accomplish this same functionality using the Skip feature in My Module Toolbox.

For more information, see Modules Management in the Product Documentation.

Visual Enhancements for Module Status

My Module Toolbox now displays whether a module is “In Use” or “Not in Use”. Selecting a module displays the status of the module in the details panel.

This allows you to determine if the module has created any monitored instances in your LogicMonitor portal. In addition, you can use this information to help determine which modules you need to update.

To access this feature, navigate to Modules > My Module Toolbox. The status displays in the “Use Status” column in the list of modules.

For more information, see Modules Overview in the Product Documentation.

Import from File Workflow in My Module Toolbox with the New UI

Disclaimer: If you are not leveraging the new UI, you can import a module to your portal using the legacy workflow. For more information, see Importing / Exporting XML LogicModules in the Product Documentation.

You can now import a module directly to your LogicModule portal from My Module Toolbox. This is useful if you edited a module offline and want to add it to your portal.

When you import the file, LogicMonitor detects duplicate modules that are currently installed as well as potential conflicts based on the XML or JSON file you import. If conflicts are found, you can view a side-by-side data comparison to resolve the conflicts or overwrite the currently installed module.

To access this feature, navigate to Modules > My Module Toolbox > Select Add > Select Import from File.

For more information, see Modules Management in the Product Documentation.

Additional Enhancements

You are now redirected to My Module Toolbox for module definitions in all locations that pointed to LogicModules. This provides you with direct access to the new UI for Modules.

Note: This enhancement does not impact any functionality when navigating within the LogicModules settings. You can navigate to LogicModules if necessary.

Fixed Issues

When importing a module, My Module Toolbox now displays a warning before overwriting the existing module.

NetScan

The VMware vSphere NetScan script has been updated to include a new filter property and updated names on existing filters to be more intuitive. Backward compatibility exists for the filter properties that were updated.

The following new filter property was added:

Filter PropertyDescription
discover.vmWhen set to true, LogicMonitor discovers VMs.

The following property names were updated:

Property NameUpdated Property Name
filter.hostandclusterviewview.hostAndCluster
filter.vmsandtemplatesviewview.vmsAndTemplates
filter.standaloneVmview.standaloneVm
filter.esxiHostsdiscover.esxi

For more information, see VMware vSphere Monitoring in the Product Documentation.

Reports

Enhancements

  • The full path is now displayed for Subgroups in this Group settings on the Info tab for a Resource.
  • There is no longer a missing indicator for whether a collector is auto-balanced when adding a new resource.
  • You can now manually add new devices to a static group with new Devices & Collector settings in the new UI. You can add devices and update the collector for the device if needed.

Usage Reporting

Usage Reporting Performance Enhancement

Improved the performance of filtering when child account contributors are displayed. This enhancement promptly updates the visual components when child accounts are selected and deselected in the Usage Contributors table.

To view the performance enhancement, navigate to Settings > Usage.

For more information about leveraging Usage in your environment, see Usage Reporting Overview in the Product Documentation.
