Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using a Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP) token adds an extra layer of security to user logins. It ensures that even if a password is compromised, unauthorized access can be prevented using a time-sensitive verification code generated by a registered authentication app.

Requirements for Setting Up Two-Factor Authenticator App

To set up two-factor authentication app, you need the authentication app (for example, Okta, Google Authenticator, or Authy) to be installed on your device.

Setting Up and Logging In using Two-Factor Authenticator App

  1. In LogicMonitor, navigate to ProfileSecuritySetup 2FA app.

  2. In the Configure 2FA app dialog box, select Confirm to continue setting up 2FA.
  3. In the Set up an authenticator app modal, do the following:
    1. Scan the QR code using an Authentication App or enter the Secret key into the Authentication app.
    2. In the Enter the code from the Authentication application section, enter the code displayed on the Authentication Application in the six-digit code field.
    3. Select Verify.
    4. Select Done when the code is verified.
      You have successfully set up your two-factor authentication.

  4. Log in using your LogicMonitor credentials to verify the two-factor authenticator app.
  5. Select Verify using Authentication App Token (Recommended) as the verification method when prompted for 2FA.

Recommendation: Use LogicMonitor Passkey as your default Two-Factor Authentication method. For more information, see LogicMonitor Passkey.

  1. Enter the token from the setup authentication app and then select Verify

You are authenticated and logged in to your LogicMonitor account.

Verifying Two-Factor Authentication App User Registration Status

  1. In LogicMonitor, navigate to Settings > User Access > Users and Roles > Users.
  2. Locate the user whose 2FA status you want to verify.
  3. Review the 2FA app column for what the user has configured and not.
