Usage Reporting for Hybrid Resource Units
Last updated - 06 February, 2026
For all LogicMonitor Platform Packages, the underlying unit of measure is a Hybrid Resource unit. The Hybrid Resource unit is a single, flexible measure of consumption that adapts to your environment. Instead of maintaining separate subscriptions for various resources, you can leverage the Hybrid Unit as an interchangeable approach. This gives you the freedom to monitor any hybrid environment while reducing procurement complexity and minimizing overage risks.

A Hybrid Resource unit is equivalent to one of the following:
| Hybrid Resource Typer | Hybrid Unit Ratio | Examples |
| Collector device | 1 | Virtual machine, server, on-premises resource, firewall, router, switch |
| Cloud IaaS instance | 1 | AWS EC2, GCP Compute Engine, Azure VM |
| Cloud PaaS resources | 7 | Kubernetes pods, serverless services |
| Wireless access points | 5 | Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba |
You can leverage hybrid unit ratios to translate different resource types into Hybrid Resource Units. For example, seven Cloud PaaS resources normalize to one Hybrid Resource Unit, and five wireless access points normalize to one Hybrid Resource Unit.
The following table displays how different customer environments size into Hybrid Resource Units:
| Customer Portal | Collectors | Cloud IaaS | Wireless APs | Cloud PaaS | Total Hybrid Resource Units |
| A | 50 | 51 | 0 | 0 | 101 |
| B | 0 | 0 | 0 | 7007 | 1001 |
| C | 0 | 1000 | 10 | 0 | 1002 |
| D | 500 | 100 | 0 | 7 | 601 |
Billing and Usage Calculations for Hybrid Resource Units
Hybrid Resource Unit billing is based on the monthly average of Hybrid Resource Units consumed during the selected billing period. Usage Reporting normalizes different resource types into Hybrid Resource Units using predefined ratios, enabling multiple resource categories to be measured under a single billing model. The following table explains how Hybrid Resource Unit usage is calculated for billing:
| Usage Element | Description | How it Affects Billing |
| Resource Type Ratio | The conversion factor used to translate a resource type into Hybrid Resource Units | Determines how many resources equal one Hybrid Resource Unit |
| Normalized Resource Count | Total resources converted into Hybrid Resource Units using defined ratios | Contributes to the monthly usage total |
| Daily Hybrid Unit Total | Total Hybrid Resource Units consumed on a given day | Used to calculate the monthly average |
| Monthly Average | Average of daily Hybrid Resource Unit totals for the selected month | Used for billing calculations |
Note: Adding or removing monitored resources during the month changes the normalized daily Hybrid Resource Unit total and may affect the monthly average used for billing.
Requirements for Viewing Usage Data for Hybrid Resource Units
To view Hybrid Resources in Usage Reporting, you must have a Platform Package which contains a Hybrid Resource.
Viewing Usage Data for Hybrid Resource Units
- In LogicMonitor, navigate to Settings > Usage > select “Hybrid Resources” from the Product dropdown menu.
