System for Cross-domain Identity Management Overview
Last updated - 06 July, 2026
System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) is an open standard for automating identity management between an identity provider (IdP) and LogicMonitor. LogicMonitor supports SCIM to synchronize user lifecycle changes from supported identity providers, enabling automatic user de-provisioning and reducing the need to manage user accounts manually.
SCIM provides the following benefits:
- Reduced Administrative Effort—Eliminates the need to manually de-provision user accounts across multiple systems.
- Improved Access Management—Helps maintain appropriate user access by removing access for users who are no longer active.
- Consistent Identity Synchronization—Keeps LogicMonitor user accounts aligned with user lifecycle changes in your identity provider.
For example, if a user leaves your organization and their account is deactivated in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) or Okta, the identity provider sends the lifecycle update to LogicMonitor through SCIM. LogicMonitor automatically de-provisions the corresponding user account, helping ensure that inactive users no longer have access to the LogicMonitor portal.
Requirements for Configuring SCIM
To configure SCIM, you need the following:
- A LogicMonitor user with the Manage Single Sign On permission set to manage SSO and identity settings.
- Administrator access to your identity provider (IdP) to configure provisioning settings.
- The SCIM toggle must be available and enabled on the SSO settings page.
