The Billing Forecast widget displays projections of cloud resource costs directly on your LogicMonitor dashboard.

When you create a new Billing Forecast widget, you can filter projections and customize the time range of forecasts. Based on the Forecast type you select, projections display either a line or bar chart of current and projected costs aggregated by day or month. Daily costs display a solid line for current costs and a dotted line for projections. Similarly, monthly costs display solid filled bars for current costs and half-filled or empty bars with a dotted outline for projections.

Requirements for Configuring a Billing Forecast Widget

To configure the Billing Forecast widget, you need the following:

  • Access to the Cost Optimization feature
  • Configuration of Billing visualizations on the Billing page

Configuring a Billing Forecast Widget

  1. In LogicMonitor, navigate to Dashboards, select a current Dashboard, or create a new one. For more information, see Dashboard Creation.
  2. Add a Billing Forecast widget. For more information, see Widget Creation.
  3. Configure the Basic Information settings. 
    For more information, see Configuring Standard Widget Settings.

  4. In Billing Data > Filter By, enter or select filter dimensions to apply to the forecast.
    The widget displays projected costs for resources found within the selected filters.
  5. In the Forecast type field, select one of the following forecasting periods to display:
    • To display a line chart of cumulative projected daily charges for the current full month, select This month’s forecast.
    • To display a column chart of current and projected monthly costs for the current quarter, select Monthly forecasts for rest of quarter.
    • To see a column chart of current and projected monthly costs for the current year. see Monthly forecasts for rest of year.
  6. Configure the Widget Color Schema settings.

  7. Select Save.
