The HPE Aruba CX Switch Monitoring package provides comprehensive visibility into the health and performance of HPE Aruba Networking CX Series switches.

These LogicModules use SNMP-based data collection to gather key performance and hardware metrics, enabling real-time monitoring of the operational health and behavior of Aruba CX switches.

All modules in the package are compatible with the following Aruba-specific Management Information Bases (MIBs):

  • ARUBAWIRED-SYSTEMINFO-MIB
  • ARUBAWIRED-VSF-MIB
  • ARUBAWIRED-FAN-MIB
  • ARUBAWIRED-POWERSUPPLY-MIB

For more information about Aruba CX switches, see AOS-CX 10.16.xxxx SNMP/MIB Guide from HPE.

Requirements for HPE Aruba CX Switch Monitoring

To use HPE Aruba CX Switch Monitoring, you need the following:

  • SNMP v2c or v3 enabled for your resources
For more information, see SNMP Configuration on AOS-CX from HPE.
  • SNMP must be accessible from the assigned LogicMonitor Collector
For more information, see SNMP Data Collection.
  • Resources must return valid responses for the SNMP OIDs used by the modules
  • (Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) configured and operational to enable stack-related monitoring
  • The resource must have system.sysoid set to 1.3.6.1.4.1.47196.4.1.1.1

Note: This monitoring package supports AOS-CX resources only. Resources running AOS-S are not supported.

Adding Resources into HPE Aruba CX Switch Monitoring

The HPE Aruba CX Switch monitoring package uses a PropertySource (addCategory_HPE_ArubaCXSwitch) to automatically detect compatible resources based on their system SysOID and assigns the category ArubaCXSwitch. All DataSources in the suite apply to resources with this category using the AppliesTo logic: hasCategory("ArubaCXSwitch").

For more information, see Adding Resources.

Troubleshooting for HPE Aruba CX Switch Monitoring

The following table outlines common troubleshooting guidance and resources for the HPE Aruba CX Switch monitoring package.

IssueInformation
DataSource ErrorsDataSources log error messages to the Raw Data output when issues occur. Raw Data can be viewed by manually polling a DataSource from the Resources page.
Partial Data CollectionDataSources are designed to gracefully handle partial failures and will continue attempting to collect any available data, even when some SNMP objects are unavailable.
SNMP Collection IssuesIf SNMP-based data collection is failing, review LogicMonitor SNMP troubleshooting guidance to verify credentials, access, and resource responses. For more information, see SNMP Troubleshooting.
DebuggingGuidance for troubleshooting Collector and script-related issues. For more information, see Collector Debug Facility.

Import LogicModules

Install all HPE Aruba CX Switch LogicModules from the LogicMonitor’s Module Exchange. For more information, see the list of LogicModules in Package. If these LogicModules are already present, ensure you have the most recent version of each module.

Data collection automatically starts when the LogicModules are imported.

LogicModules in Package

LogicMonitor’s package for HPE Aruba CX consists of the following LogicModules. For full coverage, import the following LogicModules into your platform:

Module NameTypeDescription

HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_FansDataSourceMonitors fan speed and health on HPE Aruba CX switches.
HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_MemoryDataSourceMonitors system memory utilization on HPE Aruba CX switches.
HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_PSUsDataSourceMonitors power supply unit (PSU) status and health on HPE Aruba CX switches.
HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_StackCPUDataSourceMonitors CPU utilization for each VSF stack member.
HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_StackLinkStatusDataSourceMonitors VSF inter-member link status on stacked switches.
HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_StackMemberStatusDataSourceMonitors VSF stack member roles and operational status.
HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_StackMemoryDataSourceMonitors memory capacity, usage, and utilization for each VSF stack member.
HPE_ArubaCXSwitch_TemperatureSensorsDataSourceMonitors temperature sensors on Aruba CX Series switches.
addCategory_HPE_ArubaCXSwitchPropertySourceIdentifies Aruba CX switches and assigns the ArubaCXSwitch system category.

When setting static datapoint thresholds on the various metrics tracked by this package’s DataSources, LogicMonitor follows the technology owner’s best practice KPI recommendations.

Recommendation: If necessary, adjust these predefined thresholds to meet the unique needs of your environment. For more information on tuning datapoint thresholds, see Tuning Static Thresholds for Datapoints.
