Release Note

Container Monitoring 13.0.0

Feature Highlights

  • Support for Kubernetes 1.35
  • Support for OpenShift 4.19
  • Kubernetes Job Monitoring using LM Logs
  • KSM Version Upgrade in lm-container Helm Charts
Enhancement

Support for Kubernetes 1.35

LM Container Chart version 13.0.0 is now certified for compatibility with Kubernetes version 1.35. For more information, see Support Matrix for Kubernetes Monitoring.

Enhancement

Support for OpenShift 4.19

LM Container Chart version 13.0.0 is now certified for compatibility with OpenShift 4.19. For more information, see Support Matrix for Kubernetes Monitoring.

Enhancement

Kubernetes Job Monitoring using LM Logs

You can now monitor Kubernetes Jobs more efficiently by ingesting job events as logs instead of creating them as resources. This improves scalability in highly dynamic environments.

In addition, you can route Kubernetes Job logs to a dedicated Logs partition for better isolation and operational control.

To use this capability, upgrade to lm-container Helm chart version 13.0.0 or later.

Enhancement

KSM Version Upgrade in lm-container Helm Charts

The lm-container Helm charts now use kube-state-metrics (KSM) version 7.1.0, providing compatibility with newer Kubernetes versions.

Enhancement

Improved Argus Logging

You can now gain clearer visibility into platform-level Kubernetes throttling through improved Argus logging and enhanced diagnostic signals.

Enhancement

Fluentd Buffer Configuration Improvements

You can now configure Fluentd with file buffer support and expanded memory buffer parameters to improve log ingestion reliability and stability.

This enhancement enables mounting a file buffer path when the buffer type is set to file and introduces customizable memory buffer parameters for better control over ingestion behavior.

Enhancement

Added Security Updates

LogicMonitor has added security updates to the internal components of LM Container.

Deprecation

End of Life (EOL) for Legacy Versions 5, 6, 7, and 8 for LM Container and Argus

In a future release of LogicMonitor, support for legacy LM Container builds and Argus versions 5, 6, 7, and 8 will be discontinued. If you are running these versions, upgrade to a supported LM Container release to continue receiving updates and support.

The latest LM Container releases provides the following benefits:

  • Improved monitoring accuracy using updated and actively maintained code paths
  • The latest security patches and compliance updates required for modern Kubernetes environments
  • Ongoing compatibility with newer Kubernetes versions and container runtimes
Recommendation: To avoid service disruption and maintain support coverage, upgrade to a supported LM Container release.

If your LM Container installation is running Argus version 8 or later, use the LM Upgrade Wizard or the CLI to complete the upgrade.

For Argus version 7 or earlier, migrate these deployments to LM Container before upgrading. You can migrate existing Kubernetes cluster configurations using either of the following procedures in the product documentation:

Running a supported LM Container version ensures continued compatibility with newer Kubernetes versions and container runtimes and preserves active LogicMonitor support.

Note: This change does not affect SKUs or pricing, and upgrading does not result in a loss of existing monitoring capabilities.

For more information about this deprecation, including timeline details and further removal updates, see Upcoming End of Life (EOL) for Legacy Versions 5, 6, 7, and 8 for Legacy LM Container & Argus in the LM Community.

If you have any questions or need assistance during this transition, contact the Support team or your Customer Success Manager.

Resolved Issue

Fixed an issue that prevented new Kubernetes pods from being added when duplicate IP addresses were detected. This issue occurred when failed pods retained IP addresses that conflicted with active pods, resulting in device addition failures due to hostname IP duplication.

This fix improves Argus log monitoring behavior and ensures that pods sharing previously assigned IP addresses no longer block new pod registration.

LogicModules Releases

This section lists the LogicModules that are new in this release, updated in this release, or will be removed in a future release. Changes related to the LogicModule feature will be listed in the General Updates section.

New LogicModules

LogicModule NameDetails
1 DataSource: – Argus_Log_WorkerAdded monitoring for Argus Log Ingest Worker metrics.

Updated LogicModules

LogicModule NameDetails
1 DataSource: – Argus_SelfMonitorAdded log ingest metrics.
2 DataSources: – Kubernetes_KSM_Container-Kubernetes_Summary_WatchdogAdded handling for data expiration scenarios under overload conditions.
1 DataSource: – Kubernetes_KSM_WatchdogOptimized to process larger KSM responses with improved memory management and stability.
1 DataSource: – Kubernetes_Certificate_ManagerFixed the metric parsing logic to correctly handle label values containing spaces, preventing NumberFormatException and collection failures.
