Managing a Service

You can edit an existing Service using the Manage option. You can edit the basic info, members, and metrics of your service. You can add properties to your service, change which instances belong to your service, add your service to a Service Group, add an IP address or DNS name for your service, and change what metrics are aggregated. From the Manage option, you can also delete your service.
Do the following to manage a service:
- From the LogicMonitor left navigation sidebar, select Services, and then open the service you want to manage.
- From the service page, select the Manage icon.
- On the Basic Info tab, update the information you want.
Note: The editing behavior for services created by rules differs in the following way:
- The Name field cannot be edited for rule-created services.
- For rule-controlled properties, if a property is defined in the service rule, the rule controls that property.
- You can temporarily edit or remove the property on the service.
- During the next rule evaluation, LogicMonitor restores or overwrites the property with the value defined in the rule.
- For Groups defined by service rules, if you remove a group from a service, the group is removed temporarily and LogicMonitor automatically re-adds the group when you evaluate the rule next time.
For example, the service.criticality property is rule-controlled. If you modify or remove it from the service, LogicMonitor adds it back with the rule-defined value during the next evaluation.
- Select the Members tab to update the members information you want.
Note: In case of rule-created service, the service members are managed by a rule and cannot be edited manually.
- Select the Metrics tab to update the metrics information you want.
Note: In case of rule-created service, service metrics are controlled by a rule. To change service metrics, edit the rule configuration or update the associated LogicModule.
- If you want to delete the service, from the manage service page, click the Delete, and then from the Delete Service dialog box, select Delete.
- If you want to cancel managing the service, from the manage service page, click the Cancel button, and then from the Cancel Managing Service dialog box, click Confirm.
