LogPatterns in LM Logs group similar log messages to help you identify recurring and unusual log activity. Instead of reviewing individual log entries, you can use patterns to identify frequently occurring log messages and investigate changes in log behavior.

Each LogPattern identifies a common structure in matching log messages. Values that vary between matching entries can display as parameterized patterns placeholer placeholders. You can investigate these parameterized values to determine which values occur most and least frequently.

For information about the data available for each pattern, see LogPattern Results.

You can use LogPatterns to:

  • Investigate log activity associated with an alert.
  • Identify recurring or unusual log patterns.
  • Compare pattern activity across different time ranges.
  • Investigate variable values within a pattern.
  • Analyze patterns associated with a resource or resource group.

You can access LogPatterns from the Logs page, Alerts, the Logs tab for resources and resource groups, and supported Log Query widgets. For information about accessing and using LogPatterns from these locations, see LogPatterns in LogicMonitor.
