Log Collector Group Management

You can manage Log Collector Groups as your log collection requirements change. Managing a Log Collector Group includes updating the group and the Collectors assigned to the group.

You can perform the following management tasks:

• Editing Log Collector Group—Modify an existing Log Collector Group.
• Moving a Collector to Another Log Collector Group—Move a Collector from its current Log Collector Group to another Log Collector Group.
• Removing a Collector from a Log Collector Group—Remove a Collector from its current Log Collector Group.

Requirements for Managing Log Collector Group

To manage Log Collector Groups, you need a LogicMonitor user with “Manage” permissions for “Collectors” and “Log Collector Group” in the Settings role permissions. For more information, see Settings Permission.

Editing Log Collector Group

1. In LogicMonitor, navigate to Settings > Collectors > Log Collectors tab.
2. On the Log Collectors tab, select the Log Collector Group that you want to edit, and then select Manage Log Collector Group.
   The Manage Log Collector Group page displays the Log Collector Group details.
3. Update the details of the Log Collector Group.
   
4. Select Save.
   The revised Log Collector Group displays on the Log Collectors tab.

Moving Collector to Another Log Collector Group

1. In LogicMonitor, navigate to Settings > Collectors > Log Collectors tab.
2. On the Log Collectors tab, select the Log Collector Group that contains the Collector you want to move.
3. Select the checkbox for the Collector, and then select “Move to a different Log Collector Group” from the Actions dropdown menu.
   
   The Move to a different Log Collector Group dialog box displays.
4. Search for the Log Collector Group to which you want to move the selected Collector.
   
5. Select Move.
   A confirmation message displays.
6. (Optional) On the Log Collectors tab, select the Log Collector Group to view the moved Collector.

Removing Collector from Log Collector Group

1. In LogicMonitor, navigate to Settings > Collectors > Log Collectors tab.
2. On the Log Collectors tab, select the Log Collector Group that contains the Collector you want to remove.
3. Select the checkbox for the Collector, and then select “Remove from Log Collector Group” from the Actions dropdown menu.
   
   The Remove from Log Collector Group dialog box displays.
   
4. Select Remove.
   A confirmation message displays.
