A Log Collector Group is a virtual group of LogicMonitor Collectors that receives and processes push-based logs (Syslogs and SNMP traps) through LogSources applied to resources.

A Log Collector Group can contain up to five Collectors. When you set a Log Collector Group as the dedicated Log Collector Group for a resource, each Collector in the group has Syslog and SNMP trap LogSources configured on that resource.

You can set the same Log Collector Group as the dedicated Log Collector Group for multiple resources. For more information, see Adding Resources.

A Collector can belong to a standard Collector group and a Log Collector Group at the same time. However, a Collector can belong to only one Log Collector Group.

You can create and manage Log Collector Groups from the Log Collectors tab on the Collectors page.

To create Log Collector Groups, you need a LogicMonitor user with “Manage” permissions for “Collectors“ and “Log Collector Group” in the Settings role permissions. For more information, see Settings Permission.
