Cost Optimization Budgets

Use the Budgets tab to visualize and track your monthly spending within your cloud environments. Create and manage budgets for specific cloud accounts and other billing properties, and receive alerts when spending meets specific thresholds.
Requirements for Configuring Budgets
To create a new budget, you need the following:
- Cost Optimization Billing configured to collect billing data from accounts in your cloud environment. For more information, see Cost Optimization Billing Configuration.
- A LogicMonitor user with either “View” or “Manage” permission set for Billing Data in Cost Optimization role permissions. For more information, see LogicMonitor Roles.
Configuring Budgets
- In LogicMonitor, navigate to Cost Optimization > Billing.
- Select the Budgets tab.
- Select
Add Budget. - In the Display Name field, enter a name.
- (Optional) In the Description field, describe the budget details.
- In the Monthly Budget field, enter the total monthly spending amount for the budget.
- In the Currency dropdown menu, select the currency that applies to the monthly budget.
- In the Select accounts field, select
Add accounts to include cloud accounts in budget calculations.
Note: Select All current accounts to add all accounts configured in Billing.
- (Optional) In the Filter billing field, select
Add to filter budget calculations based on specific properties.
You can include or exclude the selected filters in the Add dropdown menu.
For example, selecting to include Provider: AWS and Region: eastus to create a budget for only AWS accounts in that region. - (Optional) Select Preview Budget to apply the selected accounts and filters to the preview window on the configuration page.
- In the Forecast alert thresholds section, use the following fields to configure when spending triggers an alerts, and what type of alert each threshold triggers.
- Enter or select with arrows what percentage of the amount in Monthly Budget triggers the corresponding alert severity (
Critical,
Error, or
Warning.) - Toggle each alert severity on or off.
- Enter or select with arrows what percentage of the amount in Monthly Budget triggers the corresponding alert severity (
Note: You can further customize and integrate budget alerts using budget alert tokens. For more information, see Tokens Available in LogicModule Alert Messages.
- (Optional) Select Restore default configuration to reset alert thresholds to default values.
- Select Add budget.

The configured budget displays in the table on the Budgets tab.
